Giving Jesus What He Deserves

Posted on: 7-15-112016

There’s thing that has been abundantly clear throughout this presidential election…there are people on both sides who are ready to defend their candidate no matter what the opposition throws at them! As I watched Clinton’s concession speech today, I saw several of her supporters weeping and in total despair. Their hearts are broken over the defeat of their candidate. I have no doubt that if the tables were turned, Trump supporters would be just as distraught if he had not been victorious. Please hear me…I don’t think there is anything wrong with supporting someone/something or being upset when the person/team/etc you were rooting for is defeated. In fact, it’s perfectly natural. However, when I saw the picture above posted on Facebook today, I had to wonder what would happen if we promoted Christ the way we do our political candidate or our favorite sports team or our favorite actor or singer. What if we out as much energy into celebrating Christ as we do into celebrating the Super Bowl or the World Series? What if we defended Christ the way we defend other people that we support? I can guarantee you that if we defended Christ with the passion that we defend other things, America wouldn’t be in the shape she is in. We would not have the hatred being spewed from everywhere you turn. We would have love and compassion for everyone…not just those who agree with us.  We wouldn’t have a need for Black Lives Matter or anything of that sort because ALL lives would matter. We would not have to talk so much about unity and acceptance because it would simply be the way we lived our lives all day, every day. If we gave Jesus the worship and adoration that He deserved, we would live in a very different world than the one we see today. If we are to ever make any strides toward loving each other, we first must learn to truly love Him!

“You shall not have any gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3
