Blind Trust

Last night I wrote about having faith in God even if He doesn’t deliver us from our “fiery furnaces”.  Today, I heard the song “Trust in You” by Lauren Daigle and it fits perfectly with the message of that blog. The chorus is as follows:

When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!

Sometimes, God doesn’t do the things we think He should do.  Instead of moving the mountains from our path, He makes us struggle to climb over them.  Instead of parting the waters to allow us to walk through with ease, He makes us struggle to swim through them, often times feeling as if the very next wave will be the one that puts us under permanently.  Instead of answering our cries, He makes us to wait in deafening silence.  How we respond when God doesn’t do what we want speaks volumes about our trust in Him.  If we are ready to walk away the moment God doesn’t behave according to our will, we don’t truly trust Him.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9

God’s Word is clear…God does not operate on the same level as we do.  His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are higher than ours.  We will never understand why God does what He does because we are not on the same playing field as God. We cannot even begin to comprehend His thinking because we are finite creatures while He is infinite.  When you really think about it, the fact that we think we should be telling God what He should do is simply absurd.  The only thing we need to understand is that He is God and we are not!  Once we comprehend this fact, we will trust Him no matter what mountain He doesn’t move, no matter what waters He doesn’t part, and no matter what cry He doesn’t answer.  Trust isn’t trust unless it’s blind trust!

“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out. For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” Romans 11:33 – 34
