Welcomed Into the Family

Posted on: 7-15-112016

When our son was growing up, he was well-known for bringing kids who we didn’t know to our house.  It was a common thing to walk into the kitchen and find a line waiting to get a snack or something to drink out of the refrigerator.  We learned to expect to find unfamiliar faces playing in our yard.  And we grew accustomed to having strangers at the table for meals.  On more than one occasion, when I came across these new friends, I would ask what their name was and if their parents knew where they were. Once, I entered into the kitchen and found about five little boys getting juice boxes.  When I asked who they were, one of the ones who had been hanging out with us all week said, “It’s okay, Miss Shani…they’re with Noah, too.” And they were right…because they were with my son, they were welcome in my home.  As Christians, we are welcome in the Father’s house because we come with His Son.  When we have a relationship with Jesus, the Father opens His arms and invites us in. And He doesn’t just welcome us in as a guest…He welcomes us in as family.  Just as I couldn’t turn away my son’s friends, God cannot turn us away when we come in the name of His Son.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand…” Romans 5:1-2
