Being Grateful for What I Take for Granted

Posted on: 7-15-112015

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think this one is worth even more!  It is so easy to get caught up in materialism, especially as Christmas quickly approaches.  We worry and fret over what we are going to buy for each person on our list and we dream about what may be under the Christmas tree with our name on it.  Most, if not all of these gifts under the tree will be things that are wants, not needs.  We have so much abundance that we learn to take it all for granted. When I want a drink of water, I simply turn on the faucet.  When I want something to eat, I simply open the pantry or refrigerator.  When it’s time to get dressed, I simply go to my closet.  For those of us with an abundance of blessings, it’s hard to imagine living in need.  It’s hard to imagine going without basic necessities.  Yet, there are more people than we even want to know about that don’t have basic needs.  When we come face to face with this reality, it is hard not to be grateful for what we have.

“…always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God…” Ephesians 5:20
