The Clock is Ticking

Almost a week has passed since the terrorist attack in Paris, France.  I can’t imagine the devastation of those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy.  In one split second, their lives were changed forever.  In that same one second, the eternity of those who lost their lives were sealed forever.  For those who knew Christ as their Savior, they were swept into an eternity with Him in heaven.  For those who did not know Him as their Savior, they were swept into an eternity separated from Him with no hope of ever finding Him.  I’m sure none of the ones whose lives were taken so unexpectedly had any idea when they got up that morning that it would be their last.  I’m sure they had no idea that death was so near.   I wonder what they would’ve done differently that day if they had known.  I wonder what they would’ve said to their loved ones.  I wonder if they would’ve made God a priority if they had just known what would happen that day.  But they didn’t know, so they went about their lives just as most of us do each day.  It’s so easy to take life for granted.  It’s so easy to assume we have all the time in the world.  The truth is, however, tomorrow is not promised to any of us.  The truth is that any one of us could be standing before God in blink of an eye.  The question we must ask ourselves is if we are ready to stand before Him.  When we stand before Him, will He welcome us in or will He have to turn us away because we chose not give our heart to Him while we had the chance?  The choice is ours to make.  Remember, you may not have as much time to make that choice as you think you do.

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”  Matthew 7:23
