A Strong Tower in Devastating Times

Posted on: 7-15-112015

Today many people remember the tragedy that shook our nation fourteen years ago today – 9-11-01.  An enemy attack left our nation devastated, terrified, and with an overwhelming sense of insecurity.  People didn’t know what to do or which way to turn. Lives were changed forever.  Most of us had felt very safe just the night before, but that day, felt anything but safe. The peace we had was replaced with fear and life as we knew it would never be the same.  This devastation affected a whole nation, but you may be going through something in your own personal life that is just as devastating.  Your tragedy may be known as “10-15″…the day your spouse walked out and your marriage was over.  It may be “11-23″…the day your loved one died and left you to go on without them.  It may be “3-14″…the day you lost your job and had no way to support your family.  It may be “6-28″…the day your prodigal left home to face the world on their own leaving you heartbroken and afraid of what would happen to them.  No matter what the date it occurred, we all have our own tragedies that have shaken us to the very core.  We all have faced excruciating situations that have left our heart broken and our security shattered into a million pieces.  We all have been attacked with such ferocity that we do not know what to do or where to turn.  Just as many people after the attack on 9-11 turned to God, we should do the same.  No matter what our situation, He is the answer. He is the only One who can be our peace, our comfort, our strength, our security, our shield, and our protector no matter what is happening.  Attacks are certain.  No one is excluded from them.  And no one is excluded from His helping hand.  All we have to do is call on Him and He will answer.

“For You have been a shelter for me; a strong tower from the enemy.” Psalm 61:3
