Most of us have had days when we are at the end of our rope and don’t think we can take one more thing.  A very dear friend of mine is there today!  I was quick to send her some a message telling her that she may not can take one more thing, but God can.  I also basically told her to let Him have the load she was carrying because He never intended her to carry it.  Even as I typed the words to send her the message, I felt Him question me, “Do you really believe the things you’re telling her?”  I can so easily tell others that God is there for them, that He is in control, that He has a plan for them, etc. but do I believe it when it comes to my own life?  Telling someone else to believe God’s promises is simple…the difficulty lies in living them out.  Have you ever noticed how when the burden is weighing someone else down, we can tell them to give it all to God, but when the hurt, the despair, the frustration, the anger, the bitterness, the resentment, the overwhelming hopelessness, or the ___________ (fill in whatever burden you’re carrying) falls on our own shoulders, we  usually do anything but give it to God.  We grab hold of it, wrap our fingers around it, and cling to it as if our very life depends upon keeping that burden all to ourselves!  Just like I told my friend, God never intended for us to carry all of these burdens around.  He intended for us to lay them at His feet and let Him carry them.  He didn’t intend for us to lay them at His feet and take two steps away and then pick them back up, either.  He intended for us to lay at His feet and let Him have them permanently.  Our shoulders weren’t designed to carry the weight of our burdens.  His shoulders were designed, not only to carry the weight of our burdens, but also the weight of all of the burdens of the world.  No matter what is troubling you today, He is more than able to carry it.  All you have to do is give it to Him.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.  He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

Give It All to Him
