Even When the Healing Doesn’t Come

Even if the healing doesn’t come
And life falls apart
And dreams are still undone
You are God You are good
Forever faithful One
Even if the healing
Even if the healing doesn’t come

These are the words to the chorus of the song “Even If” by Kutless.  I heard this song on the radio yesterday and I have been thinking about it since then.  We all experience tragedies and difficulties in our lives.  Sometimes we see them coming, but often, we are totally unprepared for them.  We can feel anger, bitterness, sadness, despair, discouragement, and hopelessness all at once.  We try to hold on to our faith in God, but as our heart rips in shreds, we wonder where He is and why did He allow our situation to happen.  We wonder why we beg and plead for Him to intervene on our behalf only to feel that He is a million miles away and not doing anything to help us.  We wonder why He answers other people’s prayers but ours seem to go no farther than our ceiling.  We wonder how He could allow such horrible things to happen to us if He is supposed to love us.  When we experience these times in our lives, we must rely on truth rather than our feelings.  We have to go back to His Word and focus on the truths within its pages instead of depending on our own interpretation of the situation.  By faith, we trust in who He is and what He does. More likely than not, we will not understand why He does what He does.  That is because He is God and we are not!  We cannot even begin to comprehend His thoughts or His ways…we can only believe that He will always do what is best.  It is this belief that will sustain us through any trial…it is blind faith that will give us hope when everything in us screams, “hopeless.”  He is good, He is faithful, He is trustworthy, He is perfect, He is loving, He is kind, and He is all we need…even when He doesn’t do what we want Him to do, even when He doesn’t answer in the way we want Him to answer, even when the healing doesn’t come.

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33
