Not the Half of It

“Then she said to the king, ‘It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words of wisdom.  However I did not believe the words until I came and saw it with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told to me.  Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard.”   1 Kings 10:6-7

These are the words the Queen of Sheba spoke to King Solomon after visiting his kingdom.  She went to visit King Solomon because she had heard of his great fame concerning the name of the Lord.  She wanted to test him with the hard questions that were in her heart because she had heard he was very wise.  After Solomon answered all of her questions and she realized that he was indeed wise and that his wisdom came from the Lord.  She admitted that she doubted him, but after experiencing his wisdom firsthand, she realized that it was even greater than what she had heard.  Many of us have heard of God and the amazing things He has done, but we remain skeptical.  We wonder if the things which others say about Him are really true.  We struggle with doubt and vow that we must see it for ourselves before we will believe.  And when we do have the privilege of “seeing” Him for ourself, we, like the Queen of Sheba, will find that what we have heard was not the half of it.  We will discover that He is beyond anything we can even begin to imagine!
