A Living Tabernacle

Posted on: 7-15-112012

When God led the Israelites out of Egypt, they had no idea the lengths to which He would go to prove His love for them.  He loved them so much, in fact, that He desired to dwell among them.  He instructed the Israelites to build a tabernacle and they obeyed His instructions to the tee.  All of the materials used in the building and furnishing of the tabernacle was given by the people. It took them quite some time to finish the construction of the tabernacle, but finally, it was completed.  And upon the completion, God did the most amazing thing…He came and dwelled among the people in the tabernacle.  He loved His people and He wanted to be with them no matter what it took…the God of all heaven and earth living among people who had whined, complained, and doubted Him over and over. The people were overjoyed!  They knew that God’s presence was among them wherever they went and they knew where to go to be with Him.  Today, we, as Christians, are the living tabernacle of God.  When we accept Christ as our Savior, God’s Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us.  Where we go, the Spirit goes.  We are the dwelling place of the Most High God.  Let that sink in and then ask yourself, “If I’m the dwelling place of the Most High God, do people know they have encountered Him when they encounter me?  When they look at me, do they see Him?  When I speak, is it Him speaking through me?  When I react, am I reacting as He would?”  We have to know whether or not we are representing the God of the universe because it is the only way some people will ever catch a glimpse of Him.

“For we are the temple of the Living God.  As God has said, ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God.” 2 Corinthians 6:16
