More Than You Could Ever Need

Summertime is very hot where I live.  And not just the normal hot, but the hot that is accompanied by humidity that makes it seem even hotter.  If you spend just a few minutes outside, you’re sure to be dripping with sweat.  This is the type of heat that can be very dangerous if you do not stay hydrated.  Just as our physical bodies need to be hydrated, so do our spiritual souls. The trials and tribulations of life can affect our spiritual being in much the same way that the sun and heat zap our physical strength and energy, leaving us parched. So, how do we keep our soul hydrated?  We have to spend time with the Living Water…Jesus Christ.  When we spend time studying His Word, praying to Him, and worshipping Him, we will feel our strength renewed. (Isaiah 40:31)  His presence nourishes and replenishes us. When our physical body is parched, we long for a drink of water.  When our spirit is parched, nothing can quench that thirst except the Savior.  I love this verse from Jeremiah:

“For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”  Jeremiah 31:25

God doesn’t just give you a sip…He pours Himself out in abundance.  When He gives Himself to you, He lavishes you with everything about Him…His love, His grace, His mercy, His compassion, etc.  Asking God to give Himself to you is like asking for a spring shower and receiving a tsunami.  He will always be more than you could ever need.
