You Don’t Know The Whole Story

I saw this picture on Facebook today and I thought it portrays a very powerful message that we can all take a lesson from! It’s so easy to judge someone just by their appearance or the circumstances in their lives when we really don’t know the whole story.  This is a lesson that my daughter has been learning in her own life that has taught her to be very careful not to judge others.  She has been helping a single mom for the past several month by babysitting her son whenever she can. On several occassions when she’s had him out in public, she has gotten some really ugly looks and a few very rude comments about babies having babies.  She’s also been told she’s not very responsible and that she has no business having a baby at her age.  One night, when she had the baby out very late at night in order to pick up his mom from work, a cop actually told her she was a bad mom having her baby out that late.  Needless to say, she is infuriated by these assumptions people make about her, especially since she considers this her ministry.  And although it really makes me mad for people to say such unkind things to my daughter, I am also very glad that God is teaching her a lesson about judging others.  We can all learn from this!  We need to remember that we don’t always know all the facts!  We have no idea what has brought a person to the place where they are, and we certainly have no idea how God is planning to use their situation for their good or anyone else’s good for that matter.

“Do not speak evil of one another, brethren.  He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law.  But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.  There is One lawgiver who is able to save and to destroy.  Who are you to judge one another?” James 4:11 – 12
