No Restraints

“For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.”  1 Samuel 14:6

Many times, we feel as if what we do cannot really make a difference.  We make the excuse that “we’re only one person, so what does it really matter what we do?” Or, we think that since we’re only one person and the task set before us is so overwhelming, we may as well not even try to accomplish it.  However, nothing is farther from the truth when we are working for the Lord.  There is no limit to what can happen if we rely on God to partner with us.  In the Scripture above, Jonathan is talking to a very small group of men who are about to go up against a very large group of men.  When human eyes looked at the situation, defeat or surrender were the only options for the small group of men.  They were outnumbered and outpowered…they was no way they could possibly be victorious.  However, Jonathan knew something that we often forget…God does not live or work within the law of common sense.  He can do whatever He pleases, whenever He pleases, however He pleases, and with whomever He pleases!  He can accomplish with one willing person more than the rest of the world combined can accomplish without Him.  I love these words in this Scripture…”nothing restrains the Lord”! (emphasis mine) Take a moment and let that sink into your heart…NOTHING can stop God from doing what He sets out to do!  When we work under Him, we get the great honor of sharing in that same fact…NOTHING can stop us from doing what He sets us out to do! What is God calling you to do right now that you have been avoiding because you think the task is too daunting?  What excuses have you been making as to why you’re not busy doing what He called you to do? Stop looking at the mountain in front of you and look at the One who created the mountain…He will enable you to do what He called you to do!
