What Does Love Look Like?

Posted on: 7-15-112012

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

When I consider these verses, I wonder how many of us truly recognize what love really is and do we know which relationships in our lives really exhibit these characteristics? How many of us think we “love” someone or that someone “loves” us, but when measured against God’s definition of love, we find that our definition does not measure up?  Are we loving others as God loved us…the way we are supposed to love?  Are we settling for a relationship in which the other person says that they love us, but is so much less than what God intended for us? When we look at God’s definition for love, what does it really mean?  What does love really look like? If you want to know what it looks like, all you have to do is look at the life of Jesus and you will get a perfect example of what love is!
