A Life Worth Living

Posted on: 7-15-112011

Today, I listened to a portion of a sermon by Dr. Adrian Rogers.  His basic message was that we are so busy making a living that we’ve given up having a life.  He pointed out that we have bigger homes but smaller families, we have more conveniences but less time, we have more possessions but don’t really enjoy them, we read very little but watch a lot of TV, we are more educated but have less common sense, and the list could go on and on.   He also mentioned that we love less, laugh less, and basically just don’t enjoy laugh near as much as people did  in the past.  I think that there is a lot of truth in what he is saying.  It seems as if everywhere you look, people are unhappy with their life.  We struggle with discontentment on a daily basis.  We seem to keep looking in all the wrong places to fix what ails us.  However, for most of us, we’re not looking in the right place.  The answer to any and every problem we have is in Jesus Christ.  He is the only One that can bring true joy, true peace, and true contentment.  When we focus on Him instead of this world, we can’t help but exhibit joy because He is joy.  When we focus on Him, any uneasiness is immediately gone and we find peace because He is peace.  When we focus on Him, instead of discontentment, we find that we’re suddenly content no matter what our circumstance because He is contentment.  God does not intend for us to live a life that is anything less than amazing.  He did not send His Son to die for us to live a life trapped in unhappiness, but rather He sent Him so that we may have an abundant life. He desires for us to lack nothing that will bring us joy!  He is just waiting to give us all the desires of our heart! He wants us to have a life worth living and the only way to have that life is to live it focused on Him!

“These things I have spoken to you that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”  John 15:11

“I have come that they may have and enjoy life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
