Be of Good Cheer!

I have a very dear friend who is facing a very difficult situation right now.  She is facing opposition from every direction by someone in her life.  The situation is growing worse instead of better and she is very disheartened over the whole thing.  One of the main problems is that the person she is struggling with is just flat-out lying to get her way.  Now, one thing I know about my friend is that she is a praying woman.  I know she has been on her knees (and probably laid out on her face) before her heavenly Father, asking His guidance and direction in this situation.  I know she has also prayed for the person that is causing her so much distress.  My friend has been willing to work out the conflict through flexibility and compromise, but the situation just continues to escalate.  It’s very frustrating and discouraging!  I know because I’ve been through this very same thing, as have most of us.  We do our best to live as Christ would have us to live and handle these situations with as much unconditional love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy as possible.  We try to be kind and compassionate, but it gets harder each day.  We try to be understanding and look at things from the other person’s perspective, but as the conflict continues to heat up, it gets easier and easier to let our fleshly side rule us. And when that happens…look out!  We are ready to jump in the ring and duke it out until one of us isn’t standing (and we’re so mad by this point, that there is no way we’re going to be the one not standing).  It’s hard to remain Christlike when a situation weighs on our hearts like this.  But, in the midst of this battle that you feel is overwhelming you, there is good news!!  You have a Savior that can fight the battle for you!  Just lay it at His feet and hold on for a little bit longer!  He is already there, fighting on your behalf, even when you don’t feel it…even when it feels like you are losing more ground than you are gaining.  Just stand firm on His promises…He will never let you down!

“I have told you these things so that in Me you have peace and confidence. In this world, you will have trials, tribulations, distress, and frustration; but be of good cheer! For I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

**And just when you’re about ready to dish back whatever that person has been giving you, remember this:

Every time you throw dirt, you lose ground!
