Living Beyond Your Fear

Posted on: 7-15-112011

Last night, we saw the movie “The Help” which I highly recommend. I also recommend taking a box of tissues if you cry easily at movies. There were so many things I took away from the movie, but the main theme was about having courage…courage to stand up for what’s right even if it may cost you everything. In the movie, these women had a choice to make…face their fears of what may happen to them or do nothing to right a wrong situation. They could either stand up and fight or continue to bow down to the way things had always been. We have the same choice to make each day! We have opportunities every day to share Christ with others or obey Him in some other capacity, but we often fail to do so because we’re afraid. We can either cower in fear or we can ask God to give us the strength to face and overcome our fears. Fear is one of the topics Jesus most often talked about. He said over and over “do not be afraid” or “fear not.” Why do you think He said it so often? I think it’s because He knew we would so often be afraid and He knew that our fear could paralyze us and keep us from doing what we needed to do. Call on Him. Ask Him to give you courage. He’s ready, willing, and able to give you courage beyond anything you can ask or imagine!

“Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who trust in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24

**This is my favorite quote on courage:
“Courage is fear that has said it’s prayers.” Max Lucado

I love that Max Lucado quote…I’ve never heard it before, but I’m writing it down!
