Carrying Someone Else’s Load

Posted on: 7-15-112011

My son has recently started playing on a coed softball team. This is really the first time he’s ever played on a team with girls and it’s the first time he’s ever played slow pitch. I’ve had a great time watching him play! One of my favorite things is watching him run the bases(and any poor girl who happens to be running at the same time as him). It seems like every time he hits, there’s a girl on base already and she has the challenge of trying to stay ahead of him. The poor girl doesn’t really stand a chance because he runs like lightning! After the first game I asked him what he was going to do if he caught the girl ahead of him because you can’t just pass her by.He replied, “I’m just going to pick her up and keep on going until we reach home.” We had a big laugh about that! However, when you really think about it, that’s exactly what God called us to do. He expects us to help each other out and bear each other’s burdens. He wants us to “pick each other up and carry each other” so to speak!

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
