It Will Hurt Me More Than It Hurts You

We’ve all heard parents use the expression, “this will hurt me more than it hurts you” when referring to discipline. As kids, none of us probably believed that, but once you become a parent, you know that there is a lot of truth in that statement. When my kids were little, I was heartbroken every time one of them had to be punished. Now, I know they were necessary, but it still broke my heart. In fact, the other day, my husband and daughter were reminiscing about when they were little and laughing about how each of our children responded so differently to punishment, but I didn’t want any part of the conversation because the thought of it still brought me to tears. I have to wonder, then, how God will feel when He has to issue His final judgement and wrath on those who have rejected Him. Even though they’ve chosen to reject Him, they are still His children. He has loved them with an everlasting love. He loved them so
much that He sent His Son to die for them. At the time of this judgment and wrath, He will have done anything and everything to draw all of His children to Him. His Word is clear…there will be punishment for rejecting Him. And since God cannot lie, He will have no choice but to issue that punishment. When that time comes, how will
God feel? Will His heart break? Will those who receive Hi wrath ever know how much it grieved Him?

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15
