Are You Authentic?

Today we had a guest speaker at church. His name was Tony Pickett and he works for the Family Research Center that speaks up on behalf of Christians in matters related to the family in Washington D.C. His message today was about how everyone calls for change but very few people want to do the work it takes to actually bring about the change. He also said that in order to bring about change, we have to be authentic. We, as Christians, are often very fake. We say one thing, but we do something else. We say we love God, but often only think about Him or make an effort to praise Him on Sunday. When the world looks at us, they see anything but a reflection of God, but then we criticize and judge them because they don’t follow Him. If we are going to change our world for Christ, we first have to change ourselves. We have to be people who live out what we believe all day everyday. We have to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. We need to remind ourselves that we may be the only Jesus that people may ever see…if this is the case, then what are our lives saying about Him? We have to be authentic because the world sees right through a counterfeit.

“Be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16
